AN ORGANIC GLOW FOR SUMMER SKIN

The Making of Overjoy

Posted by Trisha Watson on

I was wanting to create a brightening product designed to combat hyper pigmentation. Hyper pigmentation are patches of unwanted dark spots where skin is damaged. This damage is often brought forth by sun exposure, pregnancy hormones or birth control hormones.

At this same time, I was also dreaming up a formulation with a natural acidic effect to balance out the beautifully basic options for client regimens such as clay masques and cleansing oils. This is when the Overjoy was born.

First, I chose licorice root due to its well known brightening benefits and skin soothing properties. The origin of licorice root traces back to southern Europe and India where this root was originally used medically for healing irritations, inflammations and intestinal ailments. When this wonder root, packed with hundreds of potentially healing substances, is added to skincare formulas in active quantities, it can control redness, flushing, skin irritation and is a great alternative to chemical hydroquinone.

For the acid reach, I chose Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) derived from fruit enzymes. Nothing beats the power of AHAs in restoring natural radiance and glow, synonymous with fresh, healthy skin. Incorporating AHA in your skincare regimen can be incredibly rewarding as the result is cumulative. By speeding the cellular turnover, these acids help to shed dull dead cells and reveal younger, fresh cells. AHAs promote hydration, firmness and help fade superficial scars while refining pores.

The deeper the research the more I fell in love with the formulation as the product began to blossom. It was an instant match made in Heaven and the abilities of the two working together create endless results.

It is with my greatest honor and gratitude that I say, thank you! For entrusting me with the very special gift of creating skincare for you all. It is my love and passion that I do so and promise to continue to strive for the very best!
